Got Baggage?

Energy Work and The Subconscious Mind
Elizabeth L’Eclair, PhD

I am Dr. Liz and I send lots of love and blessings today and thank you for visiting my website. I have been a pastor and metaphysician for several years. It has been the joy of my life. Before that, I raised dogs, trained some horses, raised four kids, homeschooled them, and did intensive metaphysical and spiritual study during all that time. I love all things energy. I love all things healing. I consider myself a practitioner of feeling better.

Twenty years ago, I was an acupuncturist in the Japanese and Chinese styles and a Chinese herbal medical practitioner. I was also always interested in god and faith and spirituality and so became a pastor. Love it.

I want to introduce an easy process that can help us gently release emotional baggage. This is a fast, accurate, powerful and direct method developed by Dr. Brad Nelson, a retired chiropractor. And I need to say that while I am no longer as ‘academic’ as I used to be, I am a down and dirty practitioner of what works, and so I have left the academy behind somewhat. Hence, my work is not filled with piles of references. This discussion is not about ‘proving’ energy work is real. I think scientific research and study is valuable, yet I focus on helping folks feel better right in their ‘now’ with the time I have left.

I have a more intuitive approach to help people heal and we are discussing this here. Let us now begin with the difference between energy and matter. Did you know you can take all the actual atomic matter making up all 7.5 billion people on the planet, and you would only have one square sugar cube of material? That is all human matter condensed into a small cube. That means that the roughly 7.5 billion of us are made of mostly light and space and vibration. It is amusing that we, including myself, all focus so much on our physical reality in the 3D world, given that we are mostly made of light.

What does that even mean? Why do we care? We can make the argument of course, that our concern for the material, 3D world is especially important because we live in a pay-to-play world. Most of us must get up every day and work and pay bills and (hopefully) care for each other. We entered this earth school, this material realm, to live and learn and grow. And many of us live in this 3D world our entire lives and do not care a fig about non-physical reality, and we do well. I know because I have many successful friends.

But sometimes it does not work, and living ‘pay-to-play’ is not enough. Sometimes we think the material world we can see, this 3D matrix, is all there is, and we struggle with anxiety and require meds, and we do not know why. Or we have crazy, explosive rage, and act out and cause harm and we have no idea what brings it on. Or we drift into depressive bouts and cannot escape them, and we lament, ‘why me.’ Or we wander from relationship to relationship and wonder in frustration why all women are…. or men are always…as some of my clients have quipped, “same woman, different dress.”

What is going on behind the scenes is stored in the subconscious mind. If this is true, we need to delve in that area; go in deep and find out what is there and how to work with it. It is in the subconscious where we have much of our life programming. Some have said that we can live 95-99% of all our lives without consciously thinking about it and that most of our emotions, thoughts, beliefs, and patterns hail from the subconscious. I believe this is correct.

I have found in my healing work and in my pastoral and spiritual counseling that if we do not work with the subconscious aspect of ourselves, many things we aim to do may not come to fruition. All our willpower and decision-making and to do lists may keel over and croak without doing what I call inner work, or personal work. This work can also be termed shadow work.

I like to say we all need to do our own growing up, and doing the inner work is a way to do it.

You might imagine that if your subconscious is not aligned with your conscious desires and plans, it will likely self-sabotage your goals. I have made it one of my life missions to find ways into the subconscious so we can work with it, heal it, and have successful lives.

Psychologists suggest that the subconscious mind gets its wires crossed due to family of origin messes, trauma of all sorts, and perhaps some chemistry and genetics. As I hinted earlier, I am not so concerned as to the why, but the how of feeling better. To this end I have facilitated healing using Native American shamanic practice, modalities like Emotional Freedom Technique (“Tapping”), The Healing Code, Byron Katie’s The Work, and other modalities, including Reiki. These all are lovely and have their place, and now I want to introduce a new healing system: The Emotion and Body Codes. There are many energy healing modalities out there: at least a thousand, and I use up to perhaps 20 different techniques. You, my dear reader, can always reach out to me if you want to sort out the right healing modality for you.
